Previous Exhibitions

The creation and production of the book Breath, Writing Herself Into History has evolved over several years between poet Kelly Young in Toronto, and visual artist Mahshid Farhoudi- Di Marco in Florence, Italy.

Kelly is a Canadian-born writer and Professor of Language and Literature at Trent University's School of Education and Professional Learning who began exploring the theme of 'Maternal legacies" and their relationship to landscape. This exploration led the two artists to engage in a process of ekphrasis, an art form dating back to Classical Greece.

Ekphrasis involves the act of aesthetic response by conveying an interpretation and representation of visual arts through poetic writing.
